Fashion Fades. Style is Eternal. - Yves Saint Laurent

Expres You Inner Fashion Sense

The trick to looking fashionable is not simply wearing the best designer pieces or the latest fashion trend, although it could be a start. :)

Real style is how you wear them, putting your own stamp on the outfit you choose to wear. It's the little twists on the trends, the nuances, that makes all the difference. You want to create an air of individuality & seperate yourself from the fashion pack. Personal style should be your goal when it come to dressing.

Tips to finding your own Style :

- Don't dress head to toe all in one of the latest trend.
- Feel free to mix & match
- Don't be stuck on one style, experiment with new looks. Or, find a signature look & be true to it.
- If you like it, Buy it & wear it - with confidence.
- Have fun with trends, don't be a slave to them.
- Knowing that keeping it simple is often the way to go.
- Add your own touch to a look, whether its a bow or belt or a brooch.
- Do the unexpected. Don't always wear things in the traditional way.

Spring 2009 Fashion Trends — a Summary

A quick summary to what i have read; Spring 2009 sees a continued revival of '70s and '80s. Delve into the depth of your closet for your polka dots and big bows, sequins and high shine. Save everything with frills and bows, as the look has been refined, and will still be in fashion. These are only a few of the trend coming in Spring.

A list of trends emerging from the runway of New York :

1) Colors - Tropical, citrus lemons and limes to juicy papaya. Metallic liquid silver and gold is everywhere, from jumpsuits to evening gowns. Black is out, nude is in, so is Palace Blue (check out fashion pantone chart)

2) Jackets - Vest jacket from cropped to tunic length.

3) Jumpsuit - Figure hugging jumpsuit from shines to stripe to prints.

4) Short Suits - Sexy hotpants with matching jacket. Make it a daywear or just sporty.

5) Lovely in lace - Romantically sweet french lace.

6) Accessories - Still with the chuncky necklace and chandelier earrings.

These are just some of the emerging trends. Hope they help you in making your new purchases...

Winter Style Dos & Don'ts

Its approaching winter over here. Remembering my first trip to China, i got those thick unfitting long johns, woolly fat turtle-necked sweaters, leather gloves, thick wool socks from Winter's Wear & a lavish investment on a Zara wool coat in Singapore. Now into my 5th winter, i've learnt plenty about my winters wardrobe. So i thought i'll share a little basics for those on their first winter holiday trip. Here's my list of Dos & Dont's... hope it helps.

1) Do invest in a pair of thick black thights (or as many colors as you can, so you get to wear your minis & a alternative to skinny jeans)

2) Don't get thick unfitting long johns (long sleeve tees with turtle-necked or not & the black thights will do as well)

3) Do layer your clothes (you don't have to look fat to be warm)

4) Don't buy gloves (they don't fit in with the trendy outfits these days, unless you are in your skiing outfit)

5) Do buy thick woollen socks (chinese believe cold seeps through to you from the feet, it took years, but now i believe)

6) Don't get a jacket/coat a size bigger (fitted coat look best don't you think? & one in khaki or black will go with anything)

7) Do have a cashmere or wool scarf in basic design/color (good for blocking cold bitter wind)

8) Do get a pair of tall flat boots (it would go with anything in your wardrobe)

The wide legs

Pictures from Gap, Joe's & Fendi
Trends are always on the swing and skinnies has been in for too long. In 2008, wide legs has made a comeback on the runway since spring, and have been spotted in stores in summer. This year, wide don't mean bulky. They go sophisticated and chic. Hipsters doesn't work so well and pants are best belted. Pick up one and try...

Kai Milla

Steve Wonder's wife (Kai Milla) for seven years creates design for her own fashion line. Her designs are classic pieces with a slight twist. Fabric and cuts allow movement and flatters almost all figures. Do check them out at www.kaimilla.com

"Ha Han"- The Korean fever burns on

The Korean designers are claiming the stage all over the world, and the fever burns on. For the common people, inspired by the korean dramas, we gather ideas and hound the grounds for the cheaper version of the Korean designed. As i scan the World Wide Web, I stumbled across http://www.feetmanseoul.com/ his photos caught my eye, and i couldn't help but paused to look. He definitely has an unique sense of angle. He captured korean fashion in every aspect.

I simply loves how this checkered top was paired with tights and shoes. Basics can be hip.
